Best places to Celebrate New Year’s Eve

Kick your New Years Eve celebrations off to a cracking start at one of these incredible cities…

After Christmas, New Years Eve is the second biggest holiday, celebrated around the world. Make the most of your last day of the year by going all out on a NYE big bash with all your friends and family!  So, what are you waiting for?! Cue the confetti and live out your ultimate NYE party! It’s time to let your hair down, crack open a bottle of fizz and say cheers to 2023!

1. Sydney, Australia

NYE in Sydney is an action-packed affair. Celebrations begin at 7:30pm with a beautiful ceremony on Sydney harbour. It’s intended as a cleansing ritual, to wash away any bad omens and make way for new beginnings. Cast your eyes up and you’ll see dramatic projections and colourful lighting effects on Sydney Harbour Bridge. This year, Sydney will welcome World Pride 2023, with an impressive light display to celebrate the community. When midnight hits, shimmering pyrotechnics will be launched from Sydney’s iconic landmarks, including the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House into the starry night sky.

2. London, UK

London’s New Year’s Eve celebrations commence at midnight with its annual over-the-top firework display on London’s South Bank. There’s just something so majestic about seeing Big Ben being lit up in full glory, with over 12,000 sparkly fireworks fired from the London Eye. Unless you’re one of the lucky ones who’s managed to bag tickets to the show, you can still watch the sensational display from Waterloo and Westminster Bridge as well as Victoria Embankment. If you’d rather skip the cold and savour the final minutes of 2022 inside, there’s always afternoon tea at The Ritz!

3. Paris, France

Escape to the romantic capital of Paris for a NYE filled with amore. Paris offers the best of both worlds, from clubbing the night away at one of its retro bars or sipping champagne with friends and family at one of its classy restaurants.  St Sylvestre (New Year) begins on January 1st and lasts throughout the whole month. You’ll spot French people wishing each other Bonne Année, with a kiss on both cheeks when the clock strikes midnight! Don’t be surprised if you’re offered a NYE chocolate treat, like papillotes (they’re basically a firework in your mouth, thanks to its centre filled with popping candy).

4. Las Vegas, USA

What could be better than a wild NYE in Las Vegas. Its famous strip is closed off for party animals, who can take their pick from the countless bars open throughout the night for insane NYE celebrations. Start your night with a meal at Margaritaville Restaurant. It boasts a 3-hour premium brand bar, with champagne and live band performances, as well as unique dance parties. End your night by watching the fireworks from The Plaza Hotel – there’s multiple viewing areas where you can take in the extraordinary extravaganza.

5. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Reveillon is Rio’s second biggest party after Carnival, based along Copacabana beach. It attracts over 2.5 million tourists and locals who flock to be part of the impressive music and fireworks display. From 8pm live music on the beach begins – with several stages positioned beside the ship lined shores. You’ve got everything from traditional Brazilian samba from local artists tp chart hits from international A-listers. Towards the end of the beach is a giant ferris wheel, which provides all the best instagrammable views of Rio’s NYE party. As midnight approaches, prepare to be sprayed by crowds with champagne, celebrating until the early hours.
